About The Programmes
This area of the website will inform you all about the Aandhimul Project's future programmes, current programmes, and completed programmes.

If you wish to view the programmes which need funding, please go to the Future Programmes page. To donate to a programme is hassle free, using Justgiving.com, working through SHIVA (UK), a UK based charity that has been doing great work in Nepal for over 12 years (www.shivacharity.com). It is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor any of the programmes on this site, it gets your money where it needs to go faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation (for more details about Justgiving please visit their website www.justgiving.com)

We don't want to waste anymore of your time, so please check out the Future Programmes page or Current & Completed Programmes page now. Also, read below for an outline of what areas of development we are pursuing within The Aandhimul Project.

Water
This is the most essential issue we need to resolve first, because it effects everything else and without a solution to the water problems in the village, other programmes will not work. For example, the school does not yet have a water supply, and the difficulties include cleaning the toilets, cleaning hands after the use of toilets and before eating food. So far they rely on bringing water in urns from down the hill at the only water source. It also affects the ability to keep clean, and even have and maintain toilets. Therefore, the need is great and we are hoping the solve these issues as soon as we can.

Improving Education
Although a primary school is provided by the state, it is under staffed, under resourced, and the teachers are insufficiently trained, leading to a lack in attendance and enthusiasm. Through involvement with NGOs and the community, the school will be something the village can be proud of.

Renovating The School
The need for a safe and welcoming environment to teach is so important, or else the education of the children will surely suffer, especially in the monsoon, and in winter where the need for light and wind and rain proof buildings is paramount. The work will provide employment for local trades people.

Health & Sanitation
It is so neccessary that both children and adults have access to good cleaning facilities, and that there are enough toilets in the village to cater for everyone. Implementation of such programmes will coincide with awareness programmes (see below). As mentioned above, without easy access to water and an infrastructure in place. How can there be the facilities in place and toilets be cleaned, unless we create that network.

Empowerment Programmes
To rid the community of its debt and create a supportive financial co-operative, enabling interest free loans, teaching them how to manage their money and creating saving scheme initiatives. Also, discussing and teaching new vocational skills for economic gain. Finally, and importantly creating schemes to empower women and girls to be educated and to have a voice in the community and more.

Awareness Programmes
With very high illiteracy rates in adults, it is necessary to give awareness programmes for the parents and other adult members of the community to strengthen the support for their childfren’s education and broaden their minds. Delivering talks on hygiene, sanitation, family planning, the benefits to why their child has a right to be educated and more.

Community Development
It is so important for the community to be able to sustain itself as much as possible. Through talks and discussions, providing assistance through experienced NGOs, and funding, it is our aim to encourage the use of renewable methods of producing energy, such as bio gas, solar and hydro power. Also, listening to the community as to what other issues they need resolved such as problems with water and more.
